$10K in Rebates? Yeah, we qualify.

I dug a little deeper, and it looks like we do indeed qualify for the energy rebates I mentioned a few days ago. Because the property has a preexisting address, utility connections, etc., any work done to the house (regardless of the scale) is considered a “renovation”. So ring the bell, it looks like our project just got a little cheaper.

Next step is to schedule an audit and get the ball rolling.

I also demolished an old house and in the process of building a new house. I did not get the audit done before demolition, so do you think I might qualify for any of the new rebates?

Thanks!

Hey Jay – a few things…

  1. Unfortunately, we actually don’t qualify for the rebates. I wrote a little more about it here
  1. Depending on the significance of your renovation, you might have qualified… however, you needed to have the tests done beforehand :(

You may want to contact the government to see if there are any ways around this, but I’ve come to realize that they aren’t all that generous.

    Best of luck!
